Dr. Mitchell is one of the premier experts in Autism evaluations and treatment in the New York area. She conducts diagnostic testing to determine if Autism is an appropriate diagnosis for you or your child. Autism may be difficult to diagnose, and it can be confused with other neuropsychological conditions, such as Social Pragmatic Language Delays, Anorexia, Nonverbal Learning Disability and more. Our assessments are comprehensive and evaluate for co-occurring developmental differences and psychological diagnoses. Many cheap and quick testing sites only give tests for Autism but do not seek to rule-out any other explanations for presenting issues. If you are looking at assessing for more than one possible diagnosis or also looking at developmental, learning, and/or emotional differences then you need a comprehensive evaluation.

Why Test
An accurate autism diagnosis is important so that the correct therapeutic services may be instituted. An Autism diagnosis can:
- Gaining Knowledge: Reveal cognitive, psychological, and personal strengths that may lead to a more positive self-image and increased self-esteem, that can assist in embracing neurodiversity.
- Validation: Often parents or individuals suspect based on experiences and research that they or their child may be neurodiverse. Results can lead to acknowledgement of suspicions and acceptance of differences, due to a genuine reason for challenges.
- Management Strategies: A diagnosis can provide recommendations for treatment or management tools for specific areas that require help managing.
- Clarity: provide information that leads to self-understanding and clarifying behaviors, emotions, or other symptoms that may be confusing. This newly found information can provide relief for individuals or parents as well as provide answers to any questions that you/they may have.
- Resources: help by providing information on sources of support, therapy, and information that are specific to a diagnosis of Autism. Individuals may also qualify for accommodations at school or work, governmental assistance, or community resources after a formal diagnosis.
